Road Trip - Ahmedabad-Pariej-Khambhat

Well this road trip was more of a 'recce' before the actual trip to Pariej and surroundings. Kheda besides many other things is known for its wetlands. If your a birder who also photographs that too from the comfort of your car, this is the place you should be. The Majestic Sarus a bird who stands to a height of 5.9 ft can make a most of vertically challenged run for cover. Besides Bharatpur if one wants to get some good shots of these guys just get lost on one of roads in Kheda and you will surely sight these tall Beauties. Gujarat has had a good share of monsoon this year as noticed by an expert from the field. Bronze winged Jacana, Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Black Breasted Weaver, Yellow Bittern, Openbilled Stork, Black Headed white ibis not to forget the Bravest Purple Heron we encountered. Long story short Kheda-Khabhat is an important route if you are a serious birder (I dont need to tell it to them) or a tourist who wants to see Birds. Pun intented.

Going further towards Khambhat might not be a good thing for your back. The road is not at its best condition. Trust me once you are there you will feel that you have discovered Gujarat's version of God's own country.

Don't try this at Khambhat ;)

Hope this was a good read for you, if you were patient enough to read do provide your feedback as well ;-)
Cheers !!!

Marsh Harrier's

Marsh Harrier's are widespread winter visitors to our part of the country and are very commonly found through out the Indian Subcontinent. It is also very easy to recognize this low flying raptor. As the name suggests they are found near marshes, wetlands and grasslands.
One of my first shots of this beautiful raptor at Heserghatta Grasslands, Bangalore.

Once again at my fav. grassland, Heserghatta, Bangalore. Taken in very bad lighting conditions.

Icing on the cake. A full frame photograph of this Sleepy Harrier  in its element. Nalsarovar Lake, Gujarat.

King Fisher

In the esteemed presence of his majesty. It my honor to introduce The King and the queen Pied Kingfishers  of royal wetland Pariej. A superb wetland once at Pariej on a early morning you would feel as if you are standing in front of ocean. Definitely worth a visit if you love outdoors and would want to spent a quite evening with nature to give you company.

Flamingo Flock

Family portrait of Greater Flamingo's. It not that difficult to isolate these guys to make some different kind of images. They always give you the opportunity to try and experiment. All you need to do is be there and have some silence around you.

One of the alert male of the flock on the look out for any kind of danger.
Always a treat to watch these guys take off.
